As I keep falling deeper and deeper into photography, I not only realize that I am officially hooked, but also that our photos can serve some broader purpose.
I feel that many who live in my local area don’t fully appreciate the Forest Preserve Districts we have. It’s true they are not grand vistas, they are pretty typical woodland. But to take the time to stop and appreciate the small moments can truly be inspiring.
It can quickly bring a whole new world to light and a realization just how wonderful what we have is and that’s it’s worth saving and investing in.
Perhaps helping give a new perspective through photography of our local treasures can help others see this. I think it would be worth creating a set of photographs centered on the local treasures and maybe one day showing them at local venues to help spread the word of just how many wonders are in our own back yards.
