This morning I had a refreshing walk to the woods. It was one of those misty mornings and the smell was an indescribable, fresh, and alive scent.
As I entered the small patch of woods off the paved trail there is a small pond that had a pair of mallards floating about and a pair of geese that had arrived with me. I took the opportunity to spend some time with them and enjoy the experience the landscape coming to life with the rising sum as the mist started to light up with the morning sun and the birds began to sing their songs alone with the scarring of animas in the brush.
Off in the distance you could see another distant patch of woods past the reeds through the glow of the haze and it had a bit of a mystical feel.

I said goodbye to my friends there and continued along the small path as the morning sun continued to rise.
Along the path I found a spot where I could hear the dew falling to the ground all around, the squirrels at play and could hear the doe off in the distance grazing. I stopped to take in the sounds and see who might be willing to pose for a photo.
I walked along the bank of the creek and as I came to the opening of the field I noticed the beaver here had started a new damn in the creek and saw him swimming about. I’ve been trying to get a good photo of last year when he was living a bit further down steam but he eluded me again. I did mention to get a snapshot of him before he moved on further into the reeds for his morning routine.

I continued on and found small patch by the creek that I decided to stay at for a while and see what would happen. I could see up and down stream and mist gave it a bit of eerier but inviting feel.
After spending some time here I started back along the way and spotted a doe drinking from the creek just behind the reeds. I stopped as to not startle her. I observed her for sometime and once it felt like I could move some to get my camera. I tried to get a photo of her but the reeds were too think and she heard the shutter of the camera. Not wanting to disturb her more I let her go on her way.
Along the way back I stopped by the fields to watch the mist flow by in the breeze as the sun started to get higher in the sky.

I also found some friendly chipmunks playing in the morning light as the Redwing Blackbirds song their songs all around.
