Daily Reflection: Project Myst

I had an indescribable impulse to play Myst last weekend. I haven’t played or thought of Myst since the mid 1990’s, but I was curious so I went along with it.

I played only for a short time and an idea arose. What if I were to set an intent to ‘visit’ a place in consciousness? Then just wait to see what happened…

So I did…I visited ‘a place of childlike wonder’.

Each time I have visited the experience changes. I found this troubling at first. I think I instinctively expected a ‘place’ to have a continuity to it. I also found it re-assuring that I was not forcing an expectation into the experience.

If this works though, could I consciously ‘construct’ a world and then visit? Would it have continuity if I constructed it to have continuity? How does this place work, what are the ‘rules’? So many questions yet unexplored and potentially endless possibilities.

A foggy landscape featuring tall grass or plants with text overlays questioning discovery and creation.
