Micro and Macro

I often find myself considering fractals and how everything on the micro scale seems to be reflected somehow on the macro and vice versa.

When out in nature sometimes the most fascinating things can be found on the micro scale.

A while back I was walking along a creek bed and found this fungi growing on a old stump.

Looking closely it was as if there was an entire ecosystem or forest just sitting on top of this single stump of where there once stood a towering tree.

What is also fascinating is that this fungi that makes up this micro ecosystem is a single living organsim.  On the macro traditionally a forest is considered a make up of many organisms but when you think about, the forest in many ways almost is it’s own living organsim.  What would the forest seem like to us if we were to shrink it to microscopic levels…
