I very recently picked up some acrylic paint supplies to try my hand at it.
I’m sure I’ll write more about this later, but lately I’ve found that any kind of artwork, good or not; feels incredibly energizing.
I’ve set the intention to make a little piece of art every day, no matter how short or how long it takes.
It’s similar to the intention I set back in 2014 when I began my daily journaling adventure. It started slow, sporadic, and unstructured, but gradually gained momentum, eventually, becoming over 1,200 pages with 310 recorded dreams and years of daily entries. A practice I now find indispensable to my daily life.
I’ve often felt like I had some kind of block. A dam inside me stopping the flow of creative energy. Then it came to me: my dam isn’t a dam at all, it’s a measuring station. It’s a station reading zero. It feels like a dam because there’s no water on the other side; but it’s simply the gauge showing nothing’s flowing yet.
I just need to open the valves, let the water pour into the river, and then the measuring station will finally have something to read.
